Lab Grown Diamonds

We use a unique and industry-proven method to grow our diamond pieces. The result is a lab grown diamond with the same chemical and physical properties as natural diamonds. This includes the same refractive index, hardness, and density.

As the lab grown diamond process is far more controllable than natural diamonds, the overall result is a more affordable fine jewelry piece. However, the pricing difference may vary based on the color, clarity, style, and shape of the diamond jewelry you select.

Our lab grown diamonds have exceptional clarity, as they are grown under controlled conditions with minimal impurities. At LYRA MAY, we use the most advanced technology available to ensure that our lab grown diamonds are always of the highest quality.

Yes, lab grown diamonds can be insured just like natural diamonds. You should always speak with your insurance provider first to ensure your policy covers lab grown diamonds specifically, as some policies may vary.

No, lab grown diamonds and moissanite are two distinct types of stones and can be easily distinguished through gemological testing. Most lab grown diamonds lack any electrical conductivity – a key provision in testing for moissanite.

The time it takes to grow a lab grown diamond will vary depending on the size and quality of the diamond. We always do our best to stay within your proposed timeframe by offering an excellent selection of pieces already prepared for shipping.

Yes. LYRA MAYs lab-grown diamonds are ethically sourced. Lab-grown diamonds have become increasingly popular in recent years as consumers seek more sustainable and ethical options in the diamond industry. In contrast to traditional, mined diamonds, lab-grown diamonds are created in a controlled laboratory environment and do not require the extraction of diamonds from the earth, which often involves environmental impacts and human rights issues. Lab-grown diamonds offer a promising solution to the ethical challenges associated with diamond mining, but it's important to understand that not all lab-grown diamonds are ethically sourced. Some manufacturers use unethical labor practices, and some have even been caught using materials from conflict zones. This is why we work closely with our highly-select suppliers & trade partners to ensure transparency in our supply chain. We are constantly working to make sure our lab-grown diamonds & jewelry pieces are conflict-free and exploitation-free. In addition, as we grow our company, we are committed to minimize our environmental impact by continuously streamlining our manufacturing processes. We can do this in two ways: 1.) increasing our adoption of remanufacturing of precious metals for jewelry making and 2.) recycling all of the materials used in the diamond growing process. We are also actively seeking out new ways for more efficient energy sources. As we improve our process, we will work to gradually nudge our trade partners towards renewable energy for our growing process as the technology improves or becomes available. We believe that lab-grown diamonds have the potential to change the diamond industry for the better, and we are proud of our efforts to offer diamonds that are sustainably and ethically grown in a controlled environment.

Conflict diamonds, also referred to as blood diamonds, are diamonds obtained through means that support armed resistance against governments. In addition to conflict financing, the diamond industry also faces various ethical issues such as child labor, poverty, violence by governments, and environmental damage. To address these issues, LYRA MAY offers only lab-grown diamonds & jewelry pieces that are guaranteed conflict-free & ethically sourced pushing forward a sustainable and responsible diamond industry.
